STTR FFRDCs

Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) conduct research for the United States Government. They are administered in accordance with U.S Code of Federal Regulations, Title 48, Part 35, Section 35.017 by universities and corporations.

FFRDCs are any entity established by the federal government to meet special long-term research and development needs of the federal government which cannot be met effectively by existing in-house or contractor resources. FFRDCs enable federal organizations to use private sector resources to accomplish tasks that are integral to the mission and operation of the sponsoring agency.
